Updates and Resources

Madison, WI. Primorigen Biosciences, Inc. has announced that it has received a Phase II SBIR grant of $1,236,000 from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of General Medical Sciences. This grant adds to two other Phase I SBIR awards of over $672,000, which qualify the company to compete for over $2 M. in additional grants at the end of Phase I studies.

The Phase II grant will accelerate Primorigen’s work on a new, cost effective and user friendly system for large scale production of stem cells and the specific lineages they produce, such as blood, liver, neural and other cells. The system is designed to address the emerging commercial need for stem cells in the clinical and drug discovery markets by reducing the number of steps and material...

The MesoTotal™ HPC/HSC differentiation system is a new medium and protocol for high efficiency differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells into hematopoietic progenitor cells (CD45/43+ and CD34+) and hematopoietic stem cells (CD45/43+, CD34+, CD38, CD45RA, CD90+). Yields can exceed the publication record by 100-fold and 40-fold for HPCs and HSCs, respectively. The MesoTotal differentiation system involves a two-step incubation procedure, eliminates feeder cell co-culturing, and can improve yields from good blood-producing cell lines.
